Procedure

The steps in an application for dispensation of attendance are as follows:

Step 1: Applying for dispensation of court attendance

A person may apply for dispensation of his/her court attendance (i.e. excused from attending court) if he/she has already settled or compounded all outstanding cases against him/her.

The Applicant can do so by applying directly to the relevant agency.

Step 2 : Agency considers the application

The Agency receives and considers the application. If consent is given, the applicant will be notified and he/she need not attend court on the specified date.

If no consent is given, the applicant will be notified and he /she will be required to attend court on the specified date. If the Applicant has not heard from the agency before the court date, he/she is still required to attend court. Failure to do so may result in a warrant of arrest being issued against him/her.
